Purchasers of a “Mugshot” nonfungible token (NFT) released by Donald Trump reported they plan to meet the former United States president at his Florida residence for dinner.

On May 8, many crypto users across social media platforms said they would meet Trump at his Mar-a-Lago home as part of the agreement behind buying digital trading cards featuring his mug shot at his surrender at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia. The event did not appear on Trump’s website at the time of publication, though the platform that sold the NFTs was not directly connected to his campaign.

“There are some Hexicans that are going to be there,” claimed X user Brandon Davis, referring to supporters of Richard Heart’s Hex blockchain.

Trump surrendered to authorities in August 2023 after being indicted on charges related to attempts to overturn the 2020 election, resulting in the first mug shot by a current or former U.S. president. In December 2023, the former president announced that anyone who bought at least 47 — a reference to his intention of becoming the 47th U.S. president — of the Mugshot digital trading cards at $99 each would be invited to an in-person dinner at Mar-a-Lago.

The former president is required to attend his criminal trial for falsifying business documents for a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels — separate from the charges he faces in Georgia, Florida and the District of Columbia. Trump has been in a New York courtroom on trial days since jury selection started on April 15. However, his court is not in session on Wednesdays, when the presiding judge, Justice Juan Merchan, handles other matters.

As the first former U.S. president to face criminal charges, Trump has been lashing out against Justice Merchan and prosecutors. The judge has cited Trump for contempt 10 times for speaking about witnesses and court staff to reporters and on social media, saying he would consider jail time if he persists.

It’s unclear if NFTs or crypto will be a topic of conversation at the Mar-a-Lago dinner. Trump previously said he had never owned Bitcoin (BTC) but has accepted crypto payments for his branded sneakers and other products. Cointelegraph reached out to the Trump campaign but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

Before he was the presumptive Republican nominee, Trump made a few public statements on crypto, including that he would “never allow” a U.S. central bank digital currency if elected president. He will likely face off against President Joe Biden in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election in November.
